Commander Hole called again this afternoon

after visiting the Board of Trade. He has

discussed at the Board of Trade the questions

raised in the Governor's despatch of the 19th

April (1).

As regards the immediate vacancy for a Ship

Surveyor, the Board of Trade say that Mr. R.K.

Collings/complete his course of training and is

now fully trained and qualified to take up the

Agents who have not yet communicated with him but

who will take immediate steps to find out whether

he is available and v villing to accept the

appointment if offered to him. They hope to

be able to let me know before Wednesday, when

Commander Hole will be calling again.

As regards the immediate vacancy for an Engineer

Surveyor, the Coard of Trade will make enquiries

among their own staff as to whether anyone is

available, but they are not hopeful. Various

alternatives were discussed by Commander Hole with

the Board of Trade officials, in the event of no

fully trained Engineer Surveyor volunteering.
